REINVENT STOCKTON FOUNDATION

PUTTING COMMUNITY FIRST

Mar 5, 2024

Reinvent Stockton Foundation (RSF) aims to reinvent the city by expanding opportunities for students pursuing higher education by building hope and attracting resources and investments to the area. The organization partners with local nonprofit groups that align with that mission, vision, and values.

“Our collective leadership philosophy revolves around the principle of ‘Community First,’” says Claudia Haro, director of operations. “We believe in inclusivity, collaboration, and diversity, ensuring that every voice is heard and respected. We prioritize serving the community’s needs and empowering individuals to make a meaningful impact on their lives and surroundings.”

Through RSF’s Stockton Scholars, Stockton Service Corps, and Mayors For a Guaranteed Income programs, they are able to reach many communities.

At the helm are a group of diverse women leading the organization, bringing invaluable perspectives, empathy, and skills.

“The presence of women in leadership roles has greatly benefited our organization in several ways,” Haro says. “Firstly, it has brought diverse perspectives to the table, leading to more comprehensive problem-solving and decision-making processes.”

In the last two years, RSF has granted almost $3 million to Stockton-based youth development organizations and programs and will be granting an additional $3 million in the next two years to nonprofit partners to build their sustainability. RSF believes a thriving, aligned youth development ecosystem is key to Stockton’s future.

Stockton Scholars has served over 4,000 scholars and distributed over $4 million in scholarships since launching in 2019. Eligible students can receive up to $4,000 for attending a four-year college or university and up to $1,000 for attending a community college or trade school.

To date, Stockton Service Corps has recruited over 300 service fellows into Stockton who have provided over 200,000 hours of service to our local community and nonprofit partners.

“Women in leadership have fostered a collaborative and inclusive environment where team members feel valued and motivated, enhancing our organizational dynamics and effectiveness,” Haro says. “Their strong commitment to community service and empowerment has amplified our impact on the community, enabling us to better serve youth from all backgrounds in Stockton.”
